In 1998 SOMEDIC was contacted by the pharmaceutical company Pharmacia. They needed a new system for the analysis of metabolic functions in rodents that was better and more flexible than what was commercially available.
In 1999 we delivered the first prototype to Pharmacia, which, as of July 2001, has been followed by additional deliveries of the SOMEDIC Metabolic Systems - to Biovitrum (former Pharmacia) as well as other costumers. Although developed in close co-operation with Biovitrum this system is not unique for its applications, but for its wide potential in the analysis of metabolic functions.
